Dog Daycare
At Doggie Daycare, pets can make new friends and play with dogs of similar size, age, and energy level.
Doggie Daycare
Do you hate the idea of leaving your pet at home alone or in a kennel while you are working or running errands? River Ridge Animal Hospital is excited to offer Doggie Daycare where pets can meet new friends with similar play interests and spend time playing together. Compatible playmates will be selected based on energy level, size, and age. Only 3–5 dogs from different families can play together simultaneously. If none of their friends are there for the day or your dog prefers human companions, our playful staff will jump in and keep your pet active. Doggie daycare is an excellent option for pets that need some more activity and socialization in their lives.
Doggie daycare is available from 8 am to 5:15 pm Monday through Friday. We request all dogs be dropped off by 9 am to allow everyone to get settled in and to maximize play opportunities. Additional fees will be applied for pets that are not picked up in time in the evening.
Please call ahead if you know you are running behind as the hospital closes at 5:30 pm and the staff needs to know when to expect you. Please call for Doggie Daycare pricing and schedules.
Pets that are boarding with us may add the doggie daycare group play option on to their stay for a nominal charge. Boarding pets always receive the same number of “let outs” and individual play sessions for no additional charge.
For health and safety reasons, the following “rules” apply to doggie daycare.
First, an enrollment form must be completed for each pet wishing to attend daycare. In addition to the enrollment form, pet parents must also sign a permission slip and waiver (client agreement) before beginning doggie daycare. All pets attending Doggie Daycare are required to be spayed or neutered if they are over six months of age and are currently on their Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, Leptospirosis, and Kennel cough vaccines. Proof of vaccination is required prior to drop off for doggie daycare. Any pets not current at the time of arrival will have their vaccines boostered.
Dogs that wish to participate in group play must be temperament tested before their first day of doggie daycare or boarding if choosing the group play add-on option. Temperament testing will be performed by the kennel supervisor and to contact us for questions.
Please visit our Online Forms and click on Dog Daycare Enrollment Form to complete the enrollment form online. By clicking Submit, the form will be emailed to us. Dog Day Care Rules And Regulations
To ensure the safety and health of all animals, customers, and staff at River Ridge Animal Hospital, we require all clients to comply with the following Rules and Regulations:
SEX: All dogs must be spayed or neutered (unless under 6 months).
VACCINATIONS: All dogs must have current vaccinations. Parents must submit written verification that their dogs have current Rabies, DHPP, Leptospirosis, and Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccinations. The Bordetella vaccine is required every six months. Specifically, the vaccines required are distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, parvovirus, rabies, and Bordatella. You will receive reminders when vaccinations are due. It is your responsibility to provide ongoing verification of current vaccinations.
HEALTH: All dogs must be in good health. Parents will need to certify that their dogs are in good health and have been free from any condition that could potentially jeopardize other guests. Dogs who have been ill with a communicable condition in the last 30 days will require a veterinary certificate of health to be admitted or re-admitted. If, at any time during care, a dog is noticed to have external parasites (fleas, lice, ticks), treatment will be applied and charged to the parent. All dogs will be examined for external parasites at check-in and will not be admitted to daycare if parasites or signs of parasites are found. This “spot check” is not a foolproof process. Therefore, we highly recommend a flea and tick preventative, excluding flea/tick collars. Product suggestions: Frontline Plus, Trifexis/Comfortis, Advantix, Vectra/Vectra 3D, Nexgard.
COLLARS: Required with nametags. RETRACTABLE LEASHES ARE NOT ALLOWED.
FOOD: All food brought to River Ridge Animal Hospital must be stored in a labeled, airtight/rodent-proof container.
BEHAVIOR: All dogs must pass the River Ridge Animal Hospital Doggy Day Care Proprietary Behavior Assessment for enrollment in our program. All dogs must be non-aggressive and not food or toy-protective. Parents must certify that their dog(s) have not harmed or shown any aggressive or threatening behavior towards any person or any other dog(s). Please remember that your pet will be spending time with other pets and our staff and that their safety and health are our main priority. Keep in mind that although it is supervised play, your dog still might acquire an occasional nip or scratch. If at any time during daycare, a dog displays aggressive behavior towards other dogs or staff, incidents will be documented, and re-assessment will be required. We reserve the right to discontinue enrollment if a dog’s behavior is deemed unsafe for our other guests and staff.
AGE: Any age dog/puppy is allowed at River Ridge Animal Hospital Doggy Day Care facilities as long as the dog/puppy meets the facility’s criteria. Puppies may begin a River Ridge Animal Hospital Doggy Day Care program before they receive their rabies vaccine and before they are spayed/neutered, as long as both will be taken care of by 6 months of age.
ENROLLMENT: All dogs must have a complete, up-to-date, and approved enrollment form on file and commit to program participation at least every two weeks (more frequent visits are better for the social structure of the group). If this commitment is not met, your dog may be required to undergo a re-assessment, and fees may be applied. If your dog has been out of daycare for two months or more, re-assessment is required, and fees will be applied. ALL REQUIRED FORMS MUST BE SIGNED BY PARENTS BEFORE ENROLLMENT.
FEES: Due and payable at drop off. Cash, check, or Visa/Mastercard/Discover are accepted. Discounted packages are provided only if they are paid in advance. Pre-paid packages are non-refundable. Our program is flexible enough to accomodate reasonable special needs requests, however, appropriate fees will be applied.
HOURS OF OPERATION: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Drop off by 9:00 a.m. and pick up any time after noon up to 5:15 p.m. River Ridge Daycare facility closes at 5:15 p.m. M-F. Late charges will be applied if needed.
RESERVATIONS: Required. As a courtesy to other clients, please cancel by 5:30 p.m. on the business day before the scheduled daycare day.
